White House Dulcimer Players

"Come join the fun with the White House Dulcimers," urges Chester Page.  "Want to play a musical instrument, and couldn't?" he asks.  "Well, this is for you," he says.  "We're looking for dulcimer players with all levels of experience.  Especially beginners, even those with no experience are welcome.  See how much fun it is to play this sweet sounding four-string instrument.  We will get you started."

White House Dulcimer Players meet every Monday night, except the first Monday of the month, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at White House Heritage Middle School.  "It's just plain fun and socialable," Chester says.  " And it's free!  We'll even furnish you a dulcimer to play."

Lions Club meets for breakfast at Stop-30 Restaurant on Highway 76 just west of I-65 every 2nd & 4th Friday at 6:30 a.m.


WHITE HOUSE LIONS HELP WITH TRADE IN--TRADE UP
Fran and Mary Mc Nutt of The White House Lions Club helped with the
recent TRADE IN TRADE UP program sponsored by SteinMart stores. This
program gives SteinMart discounts in exchange for used clothing. The
used clothes are then sold through the Lions resale store at 4110 Charlotte
Avenue in Nashville. All proceeds support Lions Club projects throughout Middle Tennessee


     White House Rotary Club

Rotary Club meets for lunch every Thursday at noon at the Billy S. Hobbs Community Center, Highway 31 W at College Street.



White House Middle School Principal Jerry Apple (center) receives a check from White House Rotarians Ted Wise (right) and Jim Bradley.  The Rotary Club's gift will help the school provide items for students with special needs not covered by the shcool's budget.


              Rivergate Toastmasters Club

Rotary Golf Tournament Raises Scholarship Funds

The White House Rotary Club's 2nd Annual Golf Tournament was won by a foursome of (l - r)William Justice, Jim Whitman, Dr. Fred Jones, and Ron Bargatze sponsored by The Smile Center with the low score of 53 in the scramble at The Legacy Golf Course in Springfield August 18.

Second place went to the Blue Line Construction team of Mike Gallager, Darrel Burton, Andrew Rickman, and Tommy White.

Northcrest Medical Center's team of Jim Schmidt, Dr. Dick Faquin, Ty Watts, and David Bellar captured third place in field of 16 teams.

The tournament raised more than $7,500 for scholarships and community charitable programs sponsored by the White House Rotary Club.

"We thank all of our corporate sponsors and businesses who sponsored holes, and we thank all the individual players who helped make this such a successful fundraiser for our blue," said Club President Phillip Vickery.

Other corporate sponsors were: Servpro of Cheatham, Robertson, & Dickson Counties, The Farmers Bank, Venture Title & Escrow, Inc., Crossroads Medical Group, Domino's Pizza, First State Bank, The White House Watch, Mortgage Corporation of America, Garrott Brothers Ready Mix, and Tal Plumlee Farm Bureau Insurance. Countrywide Home Loans provided lunch for the tournament participants.

Toastmasters from Middle Tennessee attended a Division Speech Contest in White House October 7. Tim Lynch, Sr. from the Lebanon club won the Humorous Speech Contest and Mary Ellen O'Neil won the Evaluation Contest. Approximately 25 people attended and participated. The winners advance to the District contest to be held in Chattanooga October 20. Among the Toastmasters conducting the contest were (l -r) Richard Swink of Springfield, Area 63 Governor Wali Kharif of Cookeville, Immediate Past District 63 Governor John Lloyd of Lebanon, District 63 Governor Anita Monohan of Nashville, Division F Governor Danny Langford of Cookeville, and Division E Governor Allan Daniels of Nashville.  Danny Langford organized the contest, and John Lloyd was the contest moderator.


White House Rotary Club's Wheels In Motion, and the White House Police Department's Captain Street Smarts program presented a bicycle and safety helmet to Ansley and Ashton Kirkup, students at Robert F. Woodall Elementary School, in recognition of their good citizenship.  Ansley and Ashley participated in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk in honor of their great grandfather, John Perry, who died last March.  He referred to Ansley and Ashley as "Pa Paw's Girls."  The sisters, along with aunts and cousins, raised over $3,000 for the Alzheimers Association.  The money will assist other Alzheimers patients in our community.  The sisters and their family were awarded the "Best Family Team" plaque, which they gave to thier great grandmother.
