Letter To The Editor:

November 10 --The sun rises in Husayah, a sailor is waiting for incoming wounded. It has
been a long week. He is tired. He misses his family.

An Army Private stands guard at his post in Ramadi, Iraq. He shivers in the
desert night as he stays alert and keeps watch. He thinks of his high
school friends back in PA.

A sand-covered Marine pokes his head out of the turret as he looks around
for IEDs and insurgent activity along the road. There can be no mistakes,
and he feels the stress.

A young woman with her M16 watches the Iraqi mother and child approaching
the ECP. She has to search the Iraqi women. She never knows what to
expect. Her heart rate increases. She thinks of her own mother and sister.

The hands are blistered. The body is exhausted. But he continues to hammer
the nails. Thousands of them. The Seabee dreams of building his own home
one day.

These Marines, Sailors and Soldiers are serving their country faithfully and
courageously. They miss home and their families, but they understand their
mission. They do their jobs and they are proud of what they do. They are
willing to make the sacrifices, to face the dangers and to do their part for
the freedom of the Iraqi people.

And Veterans know . . . . They understand. . . . They remember. . . .

Almighty God, on this Veteran's Day, we also remember. . . .all those
Veterans who served so proudly and faithfully the Red, White and Blue-the
flag of a free America. Help us to never forget the bravery, the fighting
skill and the supreme sacrifices made by so many. We are one-veterans of
past wars and those who fight our nation's battles today. We know; we
understand!

We pray that your care and divine blessings be with those who have served
and with those who are now serving in the greatest military of all time.
America is indeed the land of the free. Our military veterans have made it
SO. God bless them ALL-AMEN

November 2, 2005--Hi, this is Rose Dukes, formerly Rose Bivins. I graduated WHHS in Dec 2001. I am now living in Germany with my husband, LT Steven Dukes of the USArmy. I saw the letters from Josh Cox, a good friend of mine and a member of my father's church, and I thought I'd share a bit of my family's story as well. We are at the Joint Mulitnational Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany. My husband trains soldiers who are about to deploy to 'downrange'.

I work as the Mobilization and Deployment Coordinator. My job helps family members and soldiers for up coming deployments and their return home. We have been here for a year and have two left to go. I just wanted to write to say that this site is great and I'm glad to be able to have the opportunity to log in and see what's happening in my community...no matter where in the world I am!

Thank you also for supporting the military by having a 'Military Page'. I think that it is truly wonderful to  know there is support from our family and friends back home. Keep up the good work!

God Bless,
Rose Dukes

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

To the Citizens of White House,

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of those who recently contributed their time and efforts in support of my deployment to Iraq. It is hard to express in words how much good it did to hear from each of you, showing care, concern, love and support. It was truly awe-inspiring and I salute you. Your relentless support and encouragement provided a simple reminder that we must be in this together, unified, and we must have the patience to persevere through it, just like all difficult times. Do not believe for a second that the Iraqi people do not want us there. I met many of them, and they desperately want us and need us. They speak of how they may never see the freedoms that we speak about, but know their children will. That alone is worth everything we are attempting to accomplish in that part of the world. Please take a moment each day to remember those servicemen and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in order to assure the survival and success of liberty so that we may guarantee a SAFE AND SECURE FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN. Remember "Freedom is not Free." Again thank you and God bless you!

Sincerely,

Jeff A. Mingledorff
